ENEIDE MISSION: ARISS “experiment”

Mission began on April the15th, at 2,46 a.m. (italian hour) from the space polygon of Baikonur, in Kazakhstan. The Italian spaceman Roberto Vittori reached the international space station together with the Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalen and the american spaceman John Philips inside the spaceship Soyuz TMA-6.
Roberto Vittori flight engineer has an active rule in driving the spaceship in clasping operations to the spacestation. The stay of ten days on board of SII will be a “tour de force” between an experiment an the other; is necessary to remark that Europeans, have become the most important users of the Spacestation for scientific research.
In fact 22 is the number of Italian experiments foreseen in many different research sectors. Among the various experiments, the 18th, april 2005, from I.T.I.S. Guglielmo Marconi in Civitavecchia, was done the ARISS “experiment”, that is to say that was established a radioamatorial contact with the Italian spaceman, orbiting on the international spacestation (ISS). The scholl contact gave the students the chance to ask questions about scientific activity on board of ISS:
The ISS passed through our sky at an hight of 350 km and with a maximum elevation of 52,4° on the horizon.
The Ministry of Communications attended to the event with Ispettorato Territoriale Lazio managers that previously executed a technical control on apreil the12th,2005.
The “E.S.A.” (European space Agency) gave the coordination of radioamateurs activities to International Space Station (ARISS) . In Italy there is a group of radioamateurs AMSAT, that is like ARISS, and is interested mostly in spatial communications. Under direct watch of I.T.L. managers, through the temporary radioamateur connection in VHF band, communications were effectuated by radioamateur station nom. IKOWGF from “I.T.I.S. Guglielmo Marconi in Civitavecchia.
The contact was driven by a radioamateur member of ARISS staff and AMSAT in Italy, that our spaceman the most interesting questions proposed by our students of IT IS G. Marconi in Civitavecchia. To the event attended with enthusiasm, Princess Elettra Marconi that greeted Roberto Vittori at the end of connection.
Mr J.S. Troncoso manager of ESA, was also there.
The contact was kept some minutes and diffused at the same time on web from rai/net: www.rai.it/news
